Bandwidth Usage

To convert bandwidth usage from gigabytes (GB) to megabits (Mbits), you can use the following conversion factors:

1 byte = 8 bits

1 kilobyte (KB) = 1024 bytes

1 megabyte (MB) = 1024 KB

1 gigabyte (GB) = 1024 MB

1 megabit (Mbit) = 1,000,000 bits

Here's the step-by-step conversion:

  1. Start with the bandwidth usage in gigabytes (GB).
  2. Convert GB to megabytes (MB) by multiplying by 1024.
  3. Convert MB to megabits (Mbits) by multiplying by 8 and then by 1,000,000.

Mathematically, the conversion can be expressed as:

Bandwidth in Mbits = (Bandwidth in GB×1024×8) × 1,000,000

Let's say you have a bandwidth usage of 100 GB in a month:

Bandwidth in Mbits = (100×1024×8) × 1,000,000

Performing the calculation will give you the bandwidth usage in megabits.

Here's a table of our common bandwidths and their usage in speed equivalent. This takes into account if you are to sustain that speed over the course of the monthly billing cycle.

Monthly Usage (TB) Mbit/s
1 3.04
2 6.08
4 12.16
6 18.25
8 24.33
10 30.42
16 48.67
20 60.84
50 152.10
100 304.20
