VNC (Virtual Network Computing) gives you direct console access to your VPS — like plugging a monitor and keyboard directly into the server. It works even when SSH and networking are completely down.

When to Use VNC

  • You're locked out of SSH (wrong password, key issues, SSH not running)
  • Your VPS has no network connectivity
  • Your VPS is stuck booting or has kernel issues
  • You need to reset your root password
  • You need to troubleshoot firewall rules that blocked your access

How to Launch VNC

  1. Log in to the VirtFusion control panel.
  2. Click on the VPS you want to access.
  3. Go to the Console tab.
  4. Click Launch VNC (or the console icon). A new window or embedded console will open.
  5. Click inside the console window to capture your keyboard input.
  6. Log in with your username and password as you would on a local terminal.

Tips for Using VNC

  • The screen may appear small — you can often resize the browser window or use the fullscreen button.
  • Copy/paste usually doesn't work in VNC. You'll need to type commands manually.
  • If the screen is blank, try pressing Enter or any key to wake the console.
  • Use Ctrl+Alt+Delete carefully — some VNC clients intercept this. Look for a "Send Ctrl+Alt+Del" button in the VNC toolbar if you need to reboot.
  • If the console shows a login prompt but won't accept your password, your password may contain special characters that don't map correctly over VNC. Try resetting your root password from the VirtFusion panel first.

Resetting Your Root Password

If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it from the VirtFusion panel:

  1. Go to your server in the VirtFusion panel.
  2. Look for the Settings or Root Password option.
  3. Set a new password and click Save.
  4. Use the new password to log in via VNC.
